Entourage Error: "need RCPT To:<name@domain>"

Judy Chucker

I received this error description when I tried to send a message to a group
to which I frequently correspond, i.e., nothing has changed with the
addresses.

Does anyone know what the message means?? The error code was: -17099

Many thanks.

See explanation here:

It's also possible that one contact is incorrect and causing the error.

Thanks for pointing out the "error" website.

My group consisted of only five recipients. And, when I divided up the
group, using the same email addresses but entered individually, Entourage
had no problem with it.

Therefore, is this a mistake on the side of my server?

Thanks!!

Usually the number is set at 50 for sending to large groups. You probably
did something when you entered that fixed the problem. Try again and compare
addresses.

You can expand the group addresses by Control-Click on the group icon in the
message to box and select "Expand Group".

Something more to learn: ³expand group²!

However, the mystery is still unsolved: the individually selected addresses
came from the same entry in my address book, i.e., I didn¹t type them in,
nor did they come from different listings.

Sorry to keep bugging you about this, but it drove me crazy and I want to
resolve it in case it happens again. Your help is really appreciated.

There isn¹t much I can do on this end. You could try using tcpflow to
monitor your network traffic to see what is failing. See directions here:

Have you tried again with the group send?

It sounds like a bad address in your case. If you have an email from that
person, select to add it to your Address Book. Compare the address to the
one you have.
