Entourage events disappear

Hi,
I'm using Outlook 2004.
When I save a new event in Entourage and it disappears after about thirty seconds. Any ideas about fixing this?
I have recently bought and am (trying) to synch with iCal for my new iphone. I'm having problems with that, too, but I really need to solve the "disappearing event" problem first.

When you turned on syncing in Entourage, which syncing option did you
select?

Was it combine or possibly one of the delete options?

In the Sync Services preference I checked "Synchronize events and tasks with iCal and .Mac"
