Entourage, exchange server, imap, and categories problem

Entourage 10.1.4, OS 10.3.8

Problem, my wife connects to an Exchange server set to work as an Imap
server for her. Things seem to work fine except that all the outgoing mail
gets categorized into the category she is listed as under the "this is me"
in the address book (i.e., all sent mail is categorized the same, so pretty
useless).

I have set up a series of rules to categorize outgoing mail as the same
category the category of the recipient, but they still get categorized as
the same as her category. These rules work fine for me using a pop server.

Any ideas what is going on?

Well, how exactly do you do that? You have a gazillion outgoing rules, one
for each category? Like this?:

If <Any To recipient> <Is in category> <Whatsis>

Then <Set category> <Whatsis>

That should work. It does for me - I do it for just one category.
Any ideas what is going on?


I think that's how it would look on a _different computer_ (or different
Entourage identity) accessing the same IMAP account. On the one hand
categories are not preserved among different Entourages/computers - each
must have its own rules. On the other computer, the category will then
follow the preference in Preferences/Address Book/Automatically match
message categories to senders' categories.

We have one user running Entourage with Exchange and we are unable to get the
public folders viewed by using Entourage; any suggestions?

Well, how exactly do you do that? You have a gazillion outgoing rules, one

That should work. It does for me - I do it for just one category.

That is exactly what I do. It works for me on the pop server but not my wife
on her exchange server accessed as an imap server (I set the rules up).

There are two things that I cannot figure out:

1) why her outgoing mail is being categorized as the same category she has
set for her own identity in the address book (and even if I set her category
to none). I never set up a rule saying to classify outgoing mail as such and
there is no rule specifying such in her rules.

2) why, with the rules I have set up (just as you outlined above), do they
not stick, regardless of whether I tick off the 'do not apply other rules to
messages that meet this criteria' box?

This is me working with her computer and her account. Match message
categories to senders' categories is set in her preferences, but that
applies to incoming mail only, does it not?

So, having played around with it, it still doesn't work.

It is just weird.
