Entourage export unrecognizeable on XP

T

Tim

Hello all,
My entourage contacts export is not recognized by XP on my PC. I would like
to import to either Groupwise (old Novell app), Outlook Express or an online
contacts manager (such as Yahoo Address Book). The entourage-exported file
does not want to play along. Its title is this:

ZODOLRQS3DXNBML0NWJOAAYUGL

I know this means nothing. Its also only 286 bytes large (small), which
makes me think that its a bunk file altogether. Is there anyway I can
convert this file into something useful?

Thanks!

All the exported files are simply vCard (vcf) files. Try simply adding a
..vcf extension and hope that either of those contact managers support vCard
files.

I think that what Andy is talking about here are the files you make with
File/Export/Archive: if you control-click on the exported .rge file and
select "Show Package Contents", you will see the whole lot of .vcf files
inside the package. Drag them out to a regular folder.

Many other apps will accept .vcf files. I'm not sure if Yahoo will though.

You may have been talking instead about File/Export/Contacts to a Text File.
Those make tab .txt files which might be importable by a few apps, but not
many.

If you're stuck, get my shareware Export-Import Entourage scripts from

MacScripter.net <http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/>

Use the Contacts Export script to make a .txt file, then the EvX Contacts to
Outlook script (see the Outlook section in the ReadMe) to convert to a .csv
file. _That_ file is what Yahoo will import immediately.
