Entourage freezing up after password login

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Hi Everyone,

Once I log in with my password to the exchange server, Entourage goes through its steps of updating contacts, calendars, folders, etc... at this point ( and it's at a different update process each time) the application just freezes and I get the pinwheel. I can do nothing but force quit. I can skip the log in and work offline, but that doesn't solve anything? I've even back-up my (MUD) contacts, emails, etc, and attempted a uninstall of Office and a complete new install with no luck. So could this be a database issue, or is there something else that is a rye, possibly something at the exchange server/account level?

Has it *ever* worked? How big (in relative terms) is your Exchange
database? Is Entourage trying to sync gigabytes of data? What kind of
connection are you on and how are you accessing your Exchange server?
