Entourage From Account Changes When Replying

D

David Martin

I have more than one email address/account running with Entourage
david.martin@ for work and david@ for friendlier, personal email. However,
when I reply to a david@ email, the FROM drag-down automatically changes to
david.martin@, so I have to change it every time I respond to an email.
Also, if it¹s a reply-all message, not only does it change the sender, but
it also adds david@ to the recipients!

How do I stop this? it¹s terribly frustrating and embarrassing when I don¹t
notice the error prior to sending.

David Martin.

Go to Entourage menu --> Preferences... --> Mail & News Preferences -->
Reply & Forward. Uncheck "Reply using the default account".

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bill.

However, "Reply using default account" was already unchecked.

I did fail to point out that my colleague has the same problem. His replies
always jump to his NON-default email account, unlike mine which changes to
the default.
I guess, your answer should help his problem (I'll 'check his box), but not
mine.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks again.

If you are in an IMAP account in the folder list, it will use that address,
but if they are POP accounts, it should respect the account setting.

Hope this is clear.

I use POP accounts and still can¹t work out why it jumps to from one account
to another.
I¹ve subsequently discovered, whilst trying things out, that it jumps back
and forth regardless of the sender account. Ie.
If I receive an email to david.martin@ and Reply All, the new email opens
FROM david@ TO david.martin@ + the original sender.
And vice-versa, if I receive an email to david@ and Reply All, the new email
opens FROM david.martin@ TO david@ + the original sender. Thus sending
emails to myself from a different account. Which obviously confuses the
person I¹m sending to...
Basically, entourage seems to think the recipient of the original email is a
third party and adds it to the TO list rather than being FROM. Then changes
the FROM to my alternative email account

Make sense to you?

Check each account under the Options tab to be sure each has a sig selected.

Sorta. Let me know if the settings suggested are all correct. If not, we
might need screen shots to make sense of this. You can send them to me off
list for security of your email address.

Let¹s try checking headers first.

Under Message in the Menu bar, select Internet Headers.

Paste the header of the incoming message. You can xx out enough so you keep
your data private.

Let's see if can spot the trouble in the header.
