Entourage / GMail yet again

As posted recently, after seeing several posts saying Entourage
had 'lost touch' with GMail I thought I'd play with it.

Sure enough, every couple of days, all my GMail mail disappears
when I refresh the list.

Comes to pass, in the GMail/Settings/Forwarding and POP section,
one can chose whether to have ALL email available or "Only mail
that has arrived since...". I set it to ALL mail and Save.

In my situation, every time Entourage has 'lost' GMail, that bit
(on the GMail page) has reverted to "Since 09:00 this morning" or
there abouts. Clearly not an Entourage problem. It appears
googlemail preferences have difficulty 'sticking'

Thanks for letting us know. There have been several reports of this lately.
I've just started using Gmail myself so I could test. Luckily I haven't run
into this problem....yet.

After a bit more research, it appears that the option of what mail
to get is reset to "since the time of last delivery". That is, in
true (old style) POP fashion, GMail expects you to ACTUALLY
DOWNLOAD your mail to a machine, Hence it is entirely reasonable
(from their design point of view) to reset the bit to only
download mail since the last delivery.

I've submitted a bug report explaining that there are those of us
who travel - who depend on IMAP to keep mail available from
anywhere, but who are willing to tolerate POP with "leave a copy
on server" to emulate IMAP - whicj of course only works if the
GMail site would just leave the darned delivery bit set the way I
SET IT not the way they think I should!

Thanks! This is apparently a new option. I've looked for something
like this before and couldn't find it.
