Hi All -
I have a new Powerbook (512 meg RAM, 100 gig hd) with the latest versions of
Tiger and Entourage 2004 with updates. For some reason, Entourage will
"hang" with no notice, once or twice a day. It is still running, but will
not respond to any keyboard commands. I can select between active windows
within Entourage by going to the dock and selecting them, but nothing else.
Force Quit does *not* indicate a problem with the app, but force quit is the
only thing that can unstick the problem. Interestingly, after I force quit,
I also have to reboot the machine for Entourage to restart correctly without
hanging again. Starting Entourage after a force quit but without a reboot
causes it to hang again on startup.
The problem happens intermittently - sometimes when I'm in Entourage,
sometimes when Entourage is running but I'm surfing with Firefox, etc. But
it's not linked to any specific action I do in or outside of Entourage. No
problems with any other apps hanging like this - just Entourage.
It's almost as if Entourage is still running (if I had an open doc when I
force quit, it's kept and available when I start it again) and OK, but will
not allow any input from the user.
Any ideas/help? It's an amazing program, but I get nervous with every freeze
that my Entourage database is going to get corrupted, and having gone
through that ordeal with a previous Mac, am not looking forward to that.
