"Entourage has unexpectedly quit"

Running iMac w/OSX Panther. Entourage Ver 10.1.4. Able to load
Entourage and view existing folder/content. When clicking on Send &
Receive, normal Password window appears. Upon entering Password,
Entourage then quits with following error message:

"The application Microsoft Entourage has unexpectedly quit. The system
and other applications have not been effected. Would you like to submit
a bug report to Apple?"

Entourage has been working without problem for nearly a year.

Have confirmed phone line and ISP (Earthlink.net) are working fine.

My inclination is to reinstall Entourage, but have some concern about
overwriting existing data folders/content. Do you experts agree to the
reinstall step and if yes, can you provide a 1-2-3 process to insure I
don't lose data in the process.

Grateful for any guidance you can suggest.

A message lower down the board suggests you should turn off the junk
mail filter - it worked for me, despite the filter having caused no
problems for 6 moths previously!

Yep, it's the Junk Mail Filter. I don't know what the specifics are...
but I think it's that some of the spam mail that comes without certain
headers filled in (the ones without "from" or "subject" data) really
throw the filter for a loop.

Disable the filter by starting Entourage and VERY QUICKLY setting it to
Work Offline. Turn off the filter, download your e-mail, delete the
spam and then turn the filter back on. Voila!

:)
