There is no problem syncing if you have configured correctly. You don't say
what version of Entourage you are using, X or 2004 (or earlier?). That
makes a difference. What OS level are you using?

Hey guys,

Good morning. I have (2) Treo 600's that will need to have Exchange
send mail to them or they may need to just synch with the exchange
server. Should I just configure a forwarder account to send a copy of a
message that comes into the main office email account and have it sent
to the local mailbox, plus the cell phone mail account?

I think that may be the least time consuming however, it doesn't really
allow for the cell phone to "synch" with the Exchange server.

You must upgrade the Entourage sync utility with the one that came with
Office 2004. It can be found in the Additional Tools folder on the CD or in
the Microsoft Office 2004 folder in the Applications folder. The version
that was previously installed (or the one you download from Mactopia)
doesn't work with Entourage 2004.

Ok I have loaded the Entourage sync utility and can see the entourage
conduit in the palm hot sync menu; however, it says never and will not
open for option settings...

Help...

Just to be clear as to where you are:

1) you ran the Entourage Handheld Sync Installer from the Additional Tools
folder from Microsoft Office 2004
2) You started up Hotsync Manager (either directly or via the HotSync drop
down menu in Palm Desktop and selected Conduit Settings)
3) you see Entourage Conduit in the menu (should be only that one and two
other, Install and Backup)
4) in the 3rd column (Next HotSync Action) you should see "Double-Click to
see"
5) double click here and you will get the Entourage Conduit Settings dialog
box where you can set how you want the hotsync to behave
6) you should also check the HotSync Manager's Setup menu to make sure you
have HotSync enabled

P

Yes to all of the above.

When I select Entourage under the Hot Sync menu it will not give the
options for the conduit settings.

thx,
PG

Hmmm. I am assuming you do have Palm Desktop installed (v4.2.1). When you
double click on the "Double-Click" instruction in the Conduit Settings
dialog box, what happens? Nothing? Is it grayed out?

Would anyone know if Entourage/Office 2004 has a Palm Sync that is
compatible with a Palm Tungsten E? I know that Entourage/Office X has
the sync, but will not properly sync with an 'E' unit. I also cannot
find any documentation for syncing in the 2004 product. Can anyone help?

The entourage conduit is selectable, but the conduit settings is
unavailable. Do I need to have my PDA plugged in to set my prefrences?
just a thought?

Thanks again, PG

No. I just unplugged my hotsync cradle and the setting were still
available.

So, you get the "Conduit Settings" dialog box in the HotSync Manager and
double-click on the Entourage Conduit entry. You then get the "Entourage
Conduit Settings" dialog box, right? This box lets you select your
Entourage Identity, and set the settings for Address Book, Calendar, Tasks
and Notes as well as define what kind of synchronization you want (Do
Nothing, Synchronize, Entourage over Handheld, Handheld over Entourage).

I take it you are saying that this dialog box is not available or that the
selections are grayed out? Is that right?

It's the same situation in Entourage 2004. Synchronization with the Palm
Tungsten E will work, but there is the possibility of data loss & incomplete
synchronization with the Office 2004 conduit.

If you wish to do this on a machine with Entourage 2004, you must manually
enable synchronization. To avoid accidental data loss, synchronization
between Entourage 2004 and palmOne's new handhelds is turned off by default.
Follow this procedure to turn on synchronization after both Palm
synchronization software and the Microsoft Handheld Synchronization software
have been installed:
1. Launch the HotSync Manager application (usually located in
HD/Applications/Palm)
2. Under the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Settings.
3. Double-click the "Entourage Conduit" entry.
4. Near the bottom, check the option to "Enable synchronization with these
new handhelds."
5. Click OK.

The handhelds that are affected by this issue are the ones that have
"Organizer Plus," including Zire 31, Zire 72, Tungsten E, Tungsten T3, and
Tungsten T5.

Hi,

A very informative group. I am a recent convert to Mac and Office 2004
for Mac. Previously I had been using DataViz's Beyond Contacts to
sync my outlook data with my Palm T3 and the integration was excellent.
I have been using the conduits with Entourage 2004 (I think I
downloaded them from Mactopia and not from the Office 2004 disk - I
will have to check!) and have been able to sync without too many
issues. What I have not been able to figure out yet is how to get the
e-mail from Entourage onto my Palm. Any advice or recommendations for
3rd-party conduits would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Harris

Has anyone used "The Missing Sync" from markspace.com? They claim it
will work with Entourage. In specific, it was designed for these kinds
of problems. They have a deal where you can get an upgrade to
DocumenteToGo 7 and The missing sync right now. I have tried a few
others and hardly any of them work. Anyone know of this software?
Until the next time, See Ya! Jerrold.
