Entourage/Hotmail problem

Justin

I use Entourage 2004 to access my Hotmail account. It generally works
fine but I have one folder in my HOtmail account that has around 1,300
emails in it and Entourage won't pull them into it Entourage. In stead,
I keep getting an error message "An unknown error (-50) occurred." The
Explanation section then sayas " Could not retrieve mail (-50)"

Any ideas?

Is there some kind of limit on the number of emails that can be drawn
into Entourage fromHotmail?

All the settings are correct, I'm on OSX 10.3.8 and everything else is
fine.

If there is an MVP who could help I would be most grateful.

Thankyou

Justin

Justin,

I'll try. I use entourage with hotmail. However, I have never let hotmail
store anything - I always download everything to entourage's folders. I have
seen the -50 error frequently. It usually means that the Hotmail servers are
busy; and I have found that it usually goes away by itself in a few hours.

To move the mail form a hotmail folder into a local folder, first create the
folder. Then make a rule that moves the mail to this folder. Select all the
mail and apply the rule.

Let us know what happens.

Dear Bob,

Thank you so much foryour kind help - I was not aware of the 'rule'
setting and it does seem to have sorted the problem out entirely -
thank you again for a succinct reply to a real problem.

Kind regards,

Justin

I've been experiencing this for a while. This is a GOOD solution but in my
case I check my Hotmail from work and home so I wouldn't be able to refer to
old messages if they're stored locally on my iBook at home.

I have noticed that both on my Mac at work and at home eventually the
messages download after numerous attempts (usually after an hour).
