Entourage importing issues

I'm trying to import all my messages and contacts from X into 2008 and Im unable to because of 2 error codes that come up.... (-40) and (2)

Does anyone know how to fix this problem and/or know what they are?

Low number error message usually involve disk damage.

Compacting failed. A read/write error has occurred (-40)

Error -40 is a positioning error (tried to position before start of file).
This might indicate file system corruption. Try running Apple's Disk
Utility: First Aid and repairing the disk till it shows clean.

How full is your drive?

Hi Diane,

I ran Disk Utility and there were no problems found. I tried again and it's like Entourage doesn't even give it a full try, it just jumps quickly to the error page that says both of those same errors.

I would go the manual route them. From Entourage X, export your folders as
MBOX files. You will have to do this manually for the subfolders too. Export
your contacts as tab delimited files.

You can try this script...not sure it works on Entourage X.

For MBOX files: Run this script on your messages: Export folders (this gets
subfolders too). The script will fail on a folder with corruption.

All folders will get dumped into one folder on your desktop. You will need
specific names for subfolders so you will know where they go when you drag
them back into the folder window.
