way to close is to force quit. My ENtourage is unusable.
With that many windows open, entourage will be very slow in responding.
Start up entourage, and wait several minutes for all the windows to open and
update.
Hit cmd-opt-W to close all windows (this may again take several minutes)
Hit cmd-1 to open am new browser window.
Quit entourage and restart it.
If this doesn't work, try removing the 'Microsoft' folder from
±/Library/Preferences and restarting.

You shouldn't lose your emails by deleting the prefs.
Go to 'switch identity' under the Entourage menu, and see if another
identity is listed there, which will probably have all your old data in it.
You did delete the folder:
/User/[Your User Name]/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/
didn't you?
Not:
/User/[your user name]/Documents/Microsoft User Data/
The latter folder contains all you mail.
