Entourage Junk Mail

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: pop

Since recently switching to Mac and using Entourage, I am struggling with the Junk Email folder. My preference would be that this folder is not highlighted with the HUGE quantity of junk emails (the number is listed in brackets when they are received). In summary, I am looking to minimize the impact as when they constantly arrive, my eye is drawn to the junk email folder. I have blocked over 500 addresses but cannot tell whether these names still show up in my junk email folder. Please offer any suggestions. Thanks

If I understand you correctly, you are more or less happy with Entourage's
junk mail filtering, but you are distracted by the fact that the folder is
highlighted, with a number right next to it. You could simply set up a rule
under Tools>Rules that looks as follows:

If "is junk mail"

Then "do no notify" & "change status" "read"

This rule is applied automatically when new mail is received and does just
what the description of the rule says: if the message is found to be junk
mail, you will not get notified, and the status will be set to read, so the
number next to the junk e-mail folder will not show up.
