Entourage just quits

Suddenly, today, with not changes from yesterday, whenever
I click the Send/Receive button, Entourage just quits. I am
using the latest version. In fact I just installed 10.1.5
but that apparenlty didn't affect Entourage and the
quitting still hapens. I rebooted the machine (titanium
powerbook 667 mhz) I am running Jaguar 10.2.8.

Any ideas?

I had exactly the same thing today. I, too, am using OS 10.2.8, but
Entourage 10.1.4. I've used Techtools--didn't help. I can Send and Receive
from the system Mail program, so it's not with the ISP. Entourage just
"unexpectedly quits". PLEASE help if you can. Thank you very much.

I am having the same issue that started today. Entourage quits when checking
for mail. Running Panther 10.3.2.

I can, however, use newsgroups as evidenced here.

Rebuilt databases, advanced, too. No help. Trashed preferences, no help
there either.

A solution?

I have a coworker that had the exact same thing happen this
morning. After many hours of playing with different ideas,
such as rebuild, advance rebuild, etc. I noticed that she
was getting the SAME email at which time it would
unexpectedly quit. I asked out IT to kill her spool from
the server (which entourage apparently doesn't do if it
unexpectedly quits - doesn't remove from server) so when
you rebuild the database each time, and then go to
send/receive, it just gets the same batch again - the last
email was corrupt and causing it to quit, so now that the
spool is killed, I rebuilt the database, restarted machine,
and it's fine. It's a PB G4 600 with 10.2.8, for those
going through the same thing. GOOD LUCK!

How odd that it's all happening to us on the same day.
Anyway, I posted this in the other thread with the same
subject above. I did the rebuild database thing both
typical and advanced. It didn't help immediately. But I
packed up my powerbook, putting it to sleep, went to a
meeting then, after two hours, I plugged it back in, woke
it up, started Entourage, and magically it started working
again. Been fine ever since. I have no clue as to which of
my actions made it work, if any.

I just started having the exact same problem today. I'm on an imac
800mhz with jaguar 10.2.8 as well. Whenever I hit send/receive
Entourage just quits. Anybody have any solutions?

Thanks for help.
My entourage was also blocked and I just did as someone here
suggested.
I just visited my e-mail provider on the net, trashed all the mails
and everything went back to normal.

Same prob but running Panther. rebuild database not help. Turning off
schedules not help. Deleting junk and trash not help. Any other
suggestions?

Turn off the preview pane, then (if you are using POP mail) go to the
accounts settings and under the options tab select 'allow online access'.

Now, in the folder list there should be an icon to allow direct access to
the mail server - just delete the first, corrupt, crash-causing message in
the list. Don't try to open it or display it in the preview pane because
this will cause the message to be downloaded, and probably crahs the
programme again.

Are you sure you have applied all the MS programme updates? Many of these
'corrupt message crashes' were fixed by the updates.
