I installed Entourage yesterday, converting from the Mac mail. I'm a
new Mac user (formerly PC) and my Entourage has closed three times
unexpectedly -- with the apology message and the opportunity to send a
report to Apple.
Normally, when Entourage closes you would get a MERP report. Usually, when
it involves system files an Apple report pops up.
Is there a patch I need to get? Was there a problem with my
installation? I'm flummoxed!
Many users have found that running the latest Apple combo updater will fix
problems like this. Doing so overwrites potentially problem-causing files.
Several users have reported this fixed some odd problems they were having
with Entourage. Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re
applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

After running combo, restart and run Repair Permissions (see below for
directions). If you are continuing to have problem see this FAQ for more
tips:
Also, will my Mac's Software Update feature automatically check for
updates on Microsoft for Mac products? Or, do I need to set that up
separately?
No, it's just for Apple updates. There is an AutoUpdate for Microsoft that
should have been installed. Look in your applications folder for Microsoft
AutoUpdate.
If you look under Help in the menu bar you can select to check for
updates. When that window opens you can select to have it done manually or
automatically.
Current updates for Office are:
11.3.5 combo to update CD version
11.3.6 requires 11.3.5
11.3.7 requires 11.3.6
Note: many users routinely download updates directly rather than use
Software update to download. You should use Software update to keep you
notified.
Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.
See "Confused over Microsoft Update Version numbers?" to know how to check
and how to know you are updated.

Using Repair Permissions after installing MS Office or any application that
uses an installer is often advised. To use Repair Permissions:
1. Open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.
2. Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
3. Click on the icon for your boot volume.
4. Click the repair permissions button.
Don't run from CD. Updates contain a newer versions of the application's
permissions.
