Entourage Launches Itself

Scott Cardais

I've recently noticed that Entourage 2004 is launching itself on both my
Powerbook and iMac.

I'm running 10.4.2 with latest Office updates.

Has anyone else noticed this?

When does it do it and what other apps are running?

I don't (but I use Keyboard Maestro). I thought about these options as
well but none of them explain why sometimes I see Entourage launching
itself. I'm not even touching the keyboard :-\

I don't use LaunchBar but I do use QuickSilver.

I use both LaunchBar and Keyboard Maestro and sometimes iKey (overkill,
I know; don't ask), and I typically launch Entourage with a keystroke.
I've never seen it launch itself.

Something external to Entourage, however, must be launching it, because
there is no way I can conceive of that it can launch itself.
Dbl-Clicking on a file owned by Entourage might do it...or something
that simulates clicking on such a file.

I've noticed on Tiger there is a "Test Drive" of MS Office,
AND, lots of ordinary files have Entourage icons!
Could this have something to do with the problem?

All:

The reason Entourage launched itself was an application called
MenuCalendarClock ... Entourage Version.

Changing the update process to "manual" prevents MenuCalendarClock from
independently launching Entourage to check for Calendar updates.
