Entourage locking out users in active directory?

C

Chris Harper

Hello from an IT guy from a department of Michigan State
University.

Our network resides on an active directory forest and
ever since upgrading mac clients with the exchange update
(10.1.4), entourage seems to like to lock out our users
in which case we have to go into the AD and unlock their
user account.

This problem is happening for the mac users in our
department who have OSX installed with Entourage and the
Exchange Update for Entourage X (Office v. X 10.1.4
Update).

Any help resolving this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris Harper

I believe this happens when the user changes their password (or has it
reset) and doesn't change the keychain password for that account.
Entourage 10.1 will merrily keep retrying the password it has, even if
it's wrong. In Entourage 2004, the first failure will cause a dialog box
to appear so the user can enter the correct password.

Chris,

Here's the only fix that I have found to be effective.

1. Reset their password in Active Directory Users and Computers
2. Quit Entourage
3. Open Keychain Access and select Delete keychain "login" under the File menu
4. Delete the References & Files and quit the Keychain Access app
5. Open Entourage and enter the user's password and save it to the keychain
6. It will say "Keychain not found"
7. Reset to Defaults and confirm
8. Enter the user's password
9. Type Cmd + L to retrieve a complete folder list

Good luck,
Tim
