Problems! I have a Mac OS X Server 10.2.8 using netinfo for Mac OS X 10.2.8
clients to authenticate to and using Entourage X. I am having major problems
with this configuration and could use your HELP.
Every time an e-mail with an attachment approximately 2MB in size or bigger
is coming over, Entourage locks up with the spinning color wheel (aka beach
ball). This also locks the computer up as well. I also noticed, most of the
time, it is an attachment with a .zip extension. I looked at the e-mail
server¹s logs and noticed that the message was delivered correctly to the
client. This eliminates the server as part of the problem. However, after
restarting the frozen computer and re-launching Entourage, the e-mail
message in question is not in the inbox and Entourage is trying to retrieve
the message again with no luck I might add and you end up redoing everything
again. Entourage gives us no error messages or numbers. Clients are using
pop accounts.
Here is what I did thus far:
1) Turned off the Junk mail filter
2) Turned off Office Notifications
3) Rebuild the database using Advance (many, many times)
4) Upgraded to Stuffit Deluxe 8.0 (thinking it might be a compression or
extraction issue)
5) Reinstalled MS Office
