Entourage mailbox/accounts disappear

I came to work this morning, opened Entourage, and it started to walk
me through an initial setup. To my shock, there was no mailbox mail,
no accounts, no nothing. Starting over. I threw away the Entourage
Preferences file and tried to rebuild, but it only wants to rebuild
the new, empty version. Any help would be much appreciated before I
resort to starting the whole thing over from scratch. I'm thinking
this happened once before, but resolved after reboot ( I think).
