Entourage nad Exchange 2003

Richard Ptak

I have a test environment set up using Exchange 2003 Server installed
on a Windows Advance Server 2000 machine. I have 4 Windows test users
using Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro and one MAC user, using OS X.
All can send and receive email through the Exchange Server. The
problem that I get is when I set up the MAC user. His account-id setup
went through fine. He uses Entourage as the email client When he sets
up a meeting, he gets his list of contacts of which to pick the
attendees from. He wants to see what their schedule is and clicks on
the tab, I think it is called Scheuling, which is suppose to display
the "free/busy" time. He gets an error of "3170", "scheduling data
could not be found, please check your account settings". Anyone have
any suggestions on what could be wrong or where I might look to get
the solution to this. Thank you very much.

I took alook at the exchange account in Entourage and the /public/ was
at the end of the line as you said it should be. When I clicked on the
Scheduling Tab or the Free/Busty Tab, it came back with an error that
was "1701" scheduling data could not be found. If I take the /public/
away and go to the Scheduling Tab or the Free/Bust Tab, then I get a
"3170" error...scheduling data could not be found. I also went to the
Guides that you sent me and followed through their procedures and
still get the same results. Does Entourage's Free/Busy scheduling work
with Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 Servers. Maybe I should delete
the account all together from Entourage and re-create it. Do you have
any other solutions or tips that I might try. Also, I have read in
there about WebDAV. It seems like that WebDAV is required...I don't
know. Where would I get this for Excahnge 2000 Server running on a DC
which is running Adv. Server 2000 or do I have to go to a DC running
Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition with Exchange 2003. Any help or
hints would be helpful.

Hi Richard,
I took alook at the exchange account in Entourage and the /public/ was
at the end of the line as you said it should be.

One question though: what you need in there is the OWA server. It's not
always the same as the mail server itself.
What you should have is something like that:

my.owa.server/public

Beside that, if the OWA server nees to be accessed through https, you
need to enable SSL in the Entourage prefs.

Does Entourage's Free/Busy scheduling work
with Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 Servers.

It should...
Maybe I should delete
the account all together from Entourage and re-create it. Do you have

know.

It is required. If you can access your mail by Webmail (OWA) then WebDAV
is enabled.
Where would I get this for Excahnge 2000 Server running on a DC

As I was saying, Webmail requires WebDAV anyway. If you have access to
your account through webmail, then WebDAV is enabled and you *should* be
able to synch your data with the proper free/busy settings.

Corentin or Anyone;
I have done some researching through his Entourage and I have found a
few more problems which may all be tied together, but as yet nothing
is working as far as the Free/Busy. He showed me where he goes into
the calendar and proposes a meeting selects the attendees, sets the
time, and then goes to check the "Availability" of all the invitees.
It locks up on him at this point and he has to close out the calendar
window and start over. Any ideas? Also, I went in through OWA on a
Windows XP machine, then to calendar, setup a meeting, set times,
invited the people and went to check availability, and it came back
with a message of "Your browser security settings won't allow access
to this folder from this page". Where do I set these settings at...on
the server(dc) that is housing the Exchange Server? I then losed out
all of that, went to Outlook 2000, set up a meeting and times, invited
people, and check the availability, and it came back with the
schedules of everyone, if they had anything scheduled. Most did not
have anything, but I did and it showed my times that I would be away
from the office or another meeting set. Any help will be greatly
appreciated.

:-\

Checking the availability would require access to their calendar which
Entourage doesn't offer :-|
I'm not sure what he's actually doing then...

You can invite with Entourage, but not check other people's
availability. Isn't that in Outlook on Windows ??
Also, I went in through OWA on a

If it mentions Browser Security Settings, then you need to make sure the
Internet/Browser prefs on Windows allow you to access this type of
content. You probably set the security on High and it blocks this
feature.

I don't think so.

This is a very different issue Richard. Setting up the Free/Busy server
properly will allow you to sync your calendar and address book to the
server, but there is no way it can give you any kind of access to anyone
else's data :-\

You can try that through OWA from the Mac though (I've never tried it
myself, but I don't have acess to any one else's calendar) since OWA is
platform independant.
