Typical Rebuild would not fix something like that: it fixes only message
lists being out of sort order ("jumping around"), and compacts (removes
empty space). Advanced Rebuild is needed here. Microsoft never made that
clear in the documentation for Entourage X and 2001 since they didn't want
people doing Advanced Rebuilds willy-nilly, so always suggested doing a
Typical first. But then they'd always add "If that doesn't fix the problem,
do an Advanced Rebuild next."
To reflect the true situation, Entourage 2004 no longer even has an option
called "Typical Rebuild". It's called "Compact" now (just as it was, way
back when, in Outlook Express 5). It will still fix out-of-order lists. And
Advanced Rebuild is now called simply "Rebuild". But there's now a
Verification tool that is supposed to tell you if you really need a Rebuild
or not, so that people don't rebuild more often than necessary. There are
some indications that the Verification tool might not be working perfectly
(generally speaking, it might tell you to rebuild when you may not need to,
and still says so after rebuilding. This is pretty rare, though.)
You can tell by View/Source that Marco is in Entourage 2004 (11.0.0). It is
good advice to suggest a rebuild, but it should be "Rebuild", not "Compact"
(nor "Typical Rebuild" which is not an option).

Try rebuilding the databases by holding down the option key when launching
Entourage. Try the Typical Rebuild and see if that helps.
