Entourage not syncing with Exchange

Entourage 11.2.5
Exchange 2003

According to Entourage, I only have 88 items in my Inbox.
According to Outlook, I have 950 items in my Inbox.

Obviously, there are 862 items, and counting, that I have deleted or
otherwise moved out of my Inbox via Entourage, but didn't get synced
with the server.

Why would that be?

Is entourage set to view 'unread only' or 'flagged only'?

If not, control-click on the folder and select 'synchronise now' - if that
doesn't fix it, select 'empty cache'.

Thanks Barry. Entourage is not set to any specific view. I have
multiple flagged, unflagged, read, unread, categories, senders, etc in
my InBox in Entourage. I did Synchronize multiple times. I did empty
cache. I went through and deleted the 800+ emails through Outlook that
didn't get deleted when I deleted them from Entourage.

That was this morning, then I continued using Entourage as normal.
Right now I show 88 items in my InBox in Entourage, 125 if I view
through OWA.

Entourage is just not talking back to the server to say that an item
has been deleted.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks again Barry.

Yesterday I bit the bullet and did a Rebuild Database. Then went
through and cleaned up all the previously deleted emails through
Entourage. Right now, Entourage InBox = 70. Outlook InBox = 78. Still
not perfect, not sure why there are 8 message that are synced. Unless
you have a better idea at this point, I'll check it again on Monday and
see how far we are off.

Same here. I have the same issues. Not Sync.

Is there anything that we need to do with exchange server? any patch?
or is this mac/entourage related problem?

I'm sorry, I have not been able to pin down any reason why this would be
happening. I don't believe this is a general Entourage/exchange problem - I
certainly don't see this, and neither do most users.

I'll try and push it up the tree and see what falls out.

Ping me again in about 2 weeks if I haven't been back.

I spent a couple hours on the phone with Microsoft Tech support on this
issue. We never figured the problem out. The tech seemed to think that
one specfic email in the mailbox was cuasing the problem, but I moved
all the email out of the Inbox and still couldn't sync properly.

So ... I'm going to have my Mac using use IMAP. The "Exchange" service
has not served us well ..

I got a reply from an Entourage tester at MacBU:
Hi Barry,

Sounds like the syncs did not work with the server, I would normally suggest
clearing the cache first like you noted below. The Rebuild likely does this
as well, since he was able to delete most of the messages.

One thing to try, force sync the deleted items folder in Entourage, since it
is really a move message that may update Outlook. Also doing an empty trash
and forcing sync would be good to try as well as empting the cache on the
deleted items.

In outlook, there is a folder called Sync Issues in the root of the mailbox,
may want to check and see if any of the messages are noted there. Seems
more like an Entourage issue based on the description.

One other place to check is to connect with OWA and see if it is the same as
Entourage or Outlook. Can also delete them from there or Outlook to see if
they go away or not. (Do they come back if you delete them from Outlook?)

Otherwise, it sounds like the remaining ones are still there and not
accessible, just an obvious guess. You could try finding them using
spotlight if that is enabled, just in case in a folder you can't see but if
it shows up you might be able to open it up.

I have not heard of an issue like this before, others I talked to have not
either. The last resort would be do create a new identity to use, but will
require a full re-sync from the server which may or may not be bad for the
user depending on how much mail they have stored up there.

Can you check the things he suggests? The Sync Issues folder (I always seem
to have a couple of items in there), OWA & a new identity?

Does OWA work in your browser?

we too have the same problem:
2 macbooks running entourage and a 2k3 exchange server, the win boxes
running outlook work fine and OWA works fine, seems for us the sync of
new mail is random, like progress bars are working all day, but new
mail will not show up for hours. I see the new mail in OWA and also in
terminal or using a local outlook machine, so I know the mail is there,
but entourage will not show this mail till hours later! VERY
frustrating!!!
