Entourage opens attachment in word for xp instead of word for mac

Until recently, when I open all word attachments, they open in word for mac.
Now the xp and vista word documents start my parallels application and open
themselves in word for windows 2007. This takes unnecessary time and hassle.
I just want to read the document in word for mac. Easy as it was.
How can I change the settings so I get that easy way of working back again?

Select one of the files. Do a Get Info. Select Word for Mac and then select
³Change all.² This should fix the problem.

Hello Diane,
Thank you for your help, but I need a bit more explanantion.
When I open the attached file (a word document made under xp) in the mail
message on Entourage (I work on a MacBook Pro, with Parallels) my system
automatically opens Parallels and XP and WORD 2007 for Windows. Is it there
that I have to make the change? There is no real Œget info¹ function there.
I can change the save as settings here. Is that what you mean or am I on the
wrong track now?
In other words which Œfile¹ are you exactly referring to when you say:
³Select one of the files²?

Save the attachment somewhere, e.g., to the desktop.
Click on the saved attachment once to select it.
Select Get Info from the File menu (or press cmd-I).
On the Open With tab, select the Mac version of Word, Excel, or whatever.
Click the button labeled Change All.

Parallels has a preference that allows you to open files on your Mac
with applications in Windows. I believe it's called something like
SmartSelect. Look for this preference and disable it.
