Entourage opens for no reason

I use Entourage for my work email, and mail.app for my home email. Often I
will be using my laptop at home, and Entourage will not be running, and then
when I click on a link on a webpage, not an email link, just a page link,
Entourage will open for no reason. Has anyone else experienced this? BTW...
I am using the latest version of Entourage, and the latest version of Tiger.

This most likely has nothing to do with Entourage. I'm not sure why the link
you click is launching a mail application, but I'll bet that on your laptop,
where you use mail.app, you have accidentally specified Entourage as your
default mail application. Check in Mail's preferences; there is a setting
there for default mail application. Make sure it is set to Mail.

If that was set to Entourage and you change it to Mail, you won't launch
Entourage any more. You'll still switch into Mail, but then you can attack
the problem of why the http link is launching mail.

I tried that, and there is no difference. As a matter of fact, this time I
didn't even click on anything. I quit Entourage, and came back to my
computer again later, and it had opened on it's own.

Entourage never opens "on it's own"! When Entourage is shut down, something
external to Entourage has to activate it. You've got to figure out what that
is. It isn't Entourage!

Anything that triggers a "mailto" link can open it.

A "cron" job might do it.

Beyond that, I don't think we can help you.

Entourage does open on it's own, because it happens to me, and I just saw it
happen to another person yesterday. I'm not an idiot, I have been a system
admin for a number of years. I am not clicking on a mailto, and I don't have
a cron job set. I close Entourage, and after a while, it will open without
me doing anything.

The Database Daemon is activated at startup, and I think that is the
problem. The only problem with that is that if I shut it off, I will not get
notices of appointments.

I hope Microsoft comes out with an update soon. Tiger and Entourage seem to
be doing funny things.
