Entourage operating fine until.....

Trying to rebuild the database. The option for a typical or advanced
rebuild comes up for a few seconds....and then the dreaded error
message appears 'Entourage unexpectedly quit....other programs and
applications not affected).

Otherwise, Entourage works fine (for quite some time). Just trying
to compact the database.

I've updated to 10.1.6 (today).

Mac G4/1.25mhz, OS is 10.2.8. 1.5gig ram. 6gb hard drive space
free.

Database file is 706.6mb.

I have rebuilt it before (usually monthly) with no problems.

Other info needed?

Ideas?

Once when I was unable to rebuild the database I simply duplicated the file
and found that the duplicate file worked.
