Entourage outbox not sending out my messages

My outgoing mail is not leaving the outbox.
It has the yellow envelope icon with the blue "X" on left and right-pointing arrow.
When I press "Send and Receive" I only receive. There is no error message.
How do I get the outbox to send messages again? Thanks.
