A few weeks ago we have started experiencing an annoying and
inexplicable problem where Entourage users would suddenly be
disconnected from Exchange. Of course, OWA also would not work, but MS
Outlook continued to work fine.
Due to MAPi still running I am guessing this has something to do IIS,
but there is little to support this in the logs and what the cause is.
Only thing I can find is in the Applications log as follows :-
"
17:05:29 Faulting application inetinfo.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830,
faulting module TransportScan.dll, version 6.0.1148.0, fault address
0x00002eb4
17:07:01 Reporting queued error: faulting application w3wp.exe, version
6.0.3790.1830, faulting module davex.dll, version 6.5.7638.1, fault
address 0x0005dfcd
"
What we are being told is that IIS needs to be re-installed although
the process is not as simple as running the installer again. It
requires backing up Exchange, de-installing Exchange, re-installing
IIS, re-installing Exchange and restoring mailboxes.
I am reluctant to proceed without knowing / investigating about any
issues to our 90 Entourage/3 Outlook users and their email, calendars,
delegated calendaring, etc.
Does anyone have any experience of a re-install and can advise on the
process?
Server: Windows Enterprise Server 2003 SP2, Exchange 2003 SP.
Also runs Symantec Backup Exec 10.x, McAfee AntiVirus, McAfee
GroupShield.
Kind regards
Craig.
