Apple G4 powerbook running OS X 10.2.6
Office: Entourage X 10.1.4 has two significant problems. 1. It operates
very slowly. 2. Every hot sync attempt with palm iii-xe has been failing.
it had been sync-ing without problem since the new entourage conduit became
available. Then suddenly the hotsync's began failing. The commence without
problem and then when doing the calendar, the connection is lost.
I have tried all of the following:
rebuilding the entourage database (standard, which i do every few weeks) and
advanced rebuild.
reinstalled all of office, including updates. reinstalled conduit.
checked that palm has udates. running 3.5.0
checked preferences and hot sync.
reinstalled the OS (at applecare's direction) and then repeated all the
above.
prior to doing the OS reinstall and then installing all the software updates
again, i ran Hardware disk assessment CD. No hardware damage was discovered.
Norton Systemworks and Disk Warrior have both been run numerous times.
Various errors have been repaired. Permissions have been repaired using OS
utilities and Cocktail.
i think that there must be some data errors in the entourage database, but
don't have the first idea how to locate or correct them.
Today, i transferred all of my microsoft data directory to our other
computer, set up the hot sync and attempted the process from a different
computer. The same thing happened‹lost connection. This suggests that my
conclusion about the data error is correct; that the problem is in the
database, not in the connection itself nor in the software or the hotsync
conduit.
How do i proceed?
