Entourage problem - all messages, folders, contacts, settings, rules - everything gone!

I have an eMac 1GHz ATI Graphics with 640MB RAM, currently running OSX
10.3.9 and Office V.x. I've been using Entourage for about 18 months.
On startup, my Entourage asked me to rebuild the database, which I
agreed to do. All of the messages, folders, contacts, settings and
rules were still there after the rebuild.
I quit, and the computer froze.
On restarting, the computer got stuck with the beach ball spinning
after the apple screen, so I switched off again and ran repair
permissions.
On restarting again, I went to Entourage, and there was nothing there -
it appeared as though it was starting up fro the first time ie with the
'Welcome to Entourage' message and nothing else.
Fortunately I have a backup of messages etc up to 18 July, but is it
possible to retrieve the other info I've lost?
Thanks for any help
Stefan

Hi Stefan!

Your information is probably still on your computer and Entourage needs
to be pointed back to it. Have a look at this article on the MVPS.org
website for what to do
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/identities.html#id2>.

Hope this helps! bill

Thanks Bill, it's fixed now.
It looks like the identity was the issue, though I have no idea why
there was the original problem requiring me to rebuild the database.
