Entourage Problems

Entourage refused to load on Tuesday and all the fixes wouldn't work.
Luckily enough I had mirrored my drives and I managed to put the database
from it on to the other drive and rebuild it.

Although I have removed the offending database from the other drive,
entourage still refuses to load. I have tried I reinstall but no luck but
will try this again.

I like entourage but it has annoyed me on a couple of occasions and I will
look at getting another email client but I have used this for years and like
it so I may stick with it.

Your description of "all the fixes" is pretty vague so I'm not sure what to
suggest. I do suggest you check out the troubleshooting tips here to see if
there is something you missed:

If entourage won't start even after deleting the database file that
indicates the problem lies elsewhere - start by deleting the contents of the
folder ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft

I've recently upgraded to Tiger. Everything seemed to be running fine until
a couple of weeks ago when I started having the following problems with
Entourage 2004. I'm wondering if anyone else has been experiencing these
problems and if so may have found a solution:

Upon restart of the computer or relaunching of the program, the Calendar
window becomes "Addressbook 2" instead of calendar. This is a minor thing
because I can just click the Calendar icon to switch it back to calendar,
but I cannot understand why it is happening.

The second and more frustrating problem is that I need to restart Entourage
several times a day for all the functions to work (i.e., I can't flag a
message, or edit an address card, or add a link, etc. All options are
grayed out.) Once I restart the program I can then use these features for a
couple of hours and then they become unavailable once again and I need to
relaunch the program.

I thought that perhaps my database was getting too large so I spent several
hours archiving some of my folders and deleting thousands of messages
accumulated over the past couple of years. I rebuilt the database and kept
my fingers crossed that all my housekeeping would solve the problem.
Unfortunately, the problems persist.

Someone told me that it sounds like the preferences have become corrupted
and I should trash them (although I'm not sure where to find them) and
relaunch the program. My fear there is that I will lose all the Rules I
have set over the years and would have to start from scratch. Someone else
suggested that I simply reinstall the program. Again, I am afraid I'll have
to reset all my rules.

Can anyone shed some light on these problems.

I, too, have had the problem with multiple Address Book windows opening when
the program is launched. No known solution other than to manually change to
Calendar.
