Entourage Quits

Help.... I am posting this from MT-NewWatacher as Entourage X under OSX
10.2.4 will not stay open. It opens then quits before it starts to pop
mail. I rebuilt the database (with the advanced option) and that did
nothing.

I am dead in the water and would appreciate some help posted to this
news group since I cannot get mail

I don't have an answer but my Entoruage quits after message "Cannot access
your data", then goes to Rebuild but fails to rebuild both typical and
advanced. I can't seem to do anything that fixes it.

I have Humpty-Dumpty back together again. I don't really know how I
fixed it but it is working again. I spent an hour on the phone with the
DSL people and they suggested I call Apple. They reset my password and I
hung up to call Apple. For grins I tried to launch Entourage again and
it opened and stayed open. I have no idea why it was earlier opening
then quitting before it even tried to POP mail.

The first thing I did was export my address book to a text file and
imported my Entourage mail to Apple Mail for as a back up.

Thanks for listening to my shaggy dog story.

If it can't complete an Advanced Rebuild, then you're sunk. Hang onto the
database. It's possible that if/when you upgrade to Entourage 2004, the
improved rebuild utility may be able to fix it when you try to import it.
(Although usually, you'd need a non-corrupt database to import, it just
might work. It's worth a try, anyway.)

Thanks to all that responded on the second failure. The problem was as
both Dave and Paul suggested. I turned off the Junk Mail and the
Entourage opened and stayed open. I cleaned out the spam mail and turned
the Junk Mail filter back on. It has been working perfect for several
hours.

Note to All Entourage X users: Read the posted FAQ on crashes at

----------------
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/crashes.html

Check for a bad message: A malformed spam message was sent to many
people causing the Junk Mail Filter in Entourage X to fail. This is
fixed in Entourage 2004 The cause of this is a missing bracket within
the header information. The JMF cannot parse the information and fails.
Microsoft is aware of this situation.Turning off the JMF after you have
a crash situation, Re-downloading the mail, deleting the bad message,
and then re-enabling the filter is the easiest workaround. This is fixed
in Entourage 2004

Same problem here. Mine occurred on a clone of my hard drive. I
created the clone with Restore from DU. My original seems to work
fine. I have tried everything I can think of.
