Entourage rules won't behave

This will be cumbersome to explain, so I hope I'm conveying this issue
clearly.

I use Entourage for all of my email programs. I have an account for
myself and one account for my wife.
I have set up a folder for her email account. Then I have set up a
rule for her so that when she checks her email, her mail will
automatically download into her personal folder. This is so we can
keep our email folder organized and all of our accounts separate. My
email simply downloads into the main "Inbox" folder.

The problem seems to be with the rule that I set up for her. If an
email is only addressed to her, then it will download into her
personal folder that I've set up. Works perfectly. However, often
times our freinds will send us both a message, or CC one or both of
us. Then when she checks her email, the email will download into the
inbox, and not into her folder likeit should. This, I suspect, is
because my email address was also in the"TO" or "CC" field and
Entourage mistakenly thinks that it is addressed only to me.
I need a way to make sure that that my wife and I both recieve a copy
of the same email. One for me, and one for her personal folder.

Can this be set up using rules? Or should have all email go into the
Inbox, then have my wife manually place it into her personal folder
the same way that I do.

Hope that makes sense.

thanks,

It does make sense. I'm not sure if this will work, but try creating a rule:

Any Cc recipient - Is me - move message to folder xxx

Create one for your wife:

Any Cc recipient - Is in category "wife" - move message to folder xxx

My guess is it's not going to work. Entourage is not meant to have multiple
users in one Identity.

Have you considered using a second Identity for your wife? This would solve
all your problems, or do it the right way and create a new User in System
Preferences and switch Users to view mail. Fast User Switching makes this
very easy.

You could experiment with a separate rule that says if "X is a
recipient" AND "Y is a recipient" then "copy message to X box" AND "move
message to Y box". But Entourage cannot move the same message to two
places, so you'll need to create a copy somehow.

I haven't tested this type of rule (running two different actions on the
same message), but imagine it should work. Probably that rule needs to
be listed before the other rules, so that it runs first.

But--a whole different user account in OS X and Fast User Switching
would probably be a better solution.

Can you just create a rule with this criterion?

* Execute actions if any criteria are met
IF Account Is <Wife's Account>
THEN Move Message <Wife's Inbox>
ˆ Enabled

If messages are sent to both you and your wife, a copy should arrive at each
address. This way, any message received from your wife's account will be
moved, and messages received from your account won't.
