I just installed Entourage on my new MAC. Have always used a PC in the past.
Every time I send/receive my email, I get a new copy of every email on my
server at Comcast. I don't want to delete all the messages when I download
them, it has been useful in the past to have a back-up. How do I prevent
downloading all the stuff I've alreadY seen? I now have over 12,000 messages
in my Inbox, and am experiencing email overload. thanks!!!
To get rid of duplicates use one of the scripts to remove duplicates.

In your Account, you can set to leave mail on server. Entourage should not
be downloading them again unless you did a database rebuild. I would check
your settings on Comcast to see if there is a setting there that might be
causing the problem.
I'm a Comcast user too and have never experienced this. There are many
Comcast users here so we should be able to help, if you provide your
settings and details.
As a new Mac and Entourage user, you probably aren't familiar with
troubleshooting Entourage. First, you can eliminate your Identity by
creating a new test Identity under Entourage in the Menu bar --> Switch
Identity --> New. Enter your account info and test. If the problem goes
away, it's your Identity. If the problem exists, then create a new User in
System Preferences and test there. If the problem goes away, then you know
your User's folder has a problem.
First, welcome to the Mac. I have a few tips posted to help new users here:
