Entourage Sending Messages, but Not Receiving.

Heidi

Hello,

Stranged problem just started to happen on my MAC. I'm running OS
10.2.8 with Office X. (not 2004). Last Friday I was able to send an
receive mail just fine, then suddenly when it went to send and
receive, it froze up. I tried things manually after Force Quitting and
I was able to send, but not receive. I don't get any error messages,
nothing. It just sits there until I force quit.

According to our network administator, all my network and account
settings are correct, as they should be. I didn't do anything to them!

I ran Disk Doctor, First Aid, uninstalled the entire Office X suite,
reinstalled it, deleted an old 2001 folder with an old identity in it
and it work fine the rest of the day and then again this morning, but
NOW, it's not working again. I don't have a clue what to look for now.
The tech guys I work with are PC/Windows guys so I don't want them to
start monkeying around with my MAC. I've tried everything I can think
and was hoping for another idea here on the boards. I'm also going to
try the Apple boards, as their response time seems to be soooo much
quicker than this one.

Thanks for any input.

What error message did you get ??

Is it a POP account ?? It could be that the session has not been closed
properly. In this casse, you'll need to re-initiate it (sometimes the
server does it by itself after a while) or that you corrupted the inbox
on the server. Can you connect to the server by webmail ?? Can you see
everything the way tyou should then ??

Yes, it is a POP account and I'm able to access through our web
exchange, but none of my contacts and folders on on the web.

I forgot and left Entourage open while I was in a meeting and then to
lunch and there's a possibility someone is sending me something
HUGE! Before it would just say it was receiving and sit there, but not,
it's still sitting there, but there is ONE message in progress that is
receiving....and receiving....and receiving. I'm not sure if it'll finish, but
I'm going to let it be and see. I just hope it's not some kind of infection
that I'm receiving over my email.

It's just odd that I'm able to send email and not receive any, so perhaps
this is the problem, nothing can get past this one in Entourage. I'm
getting other email on the web, but perhaps this one is clogging it on
my hard drive. Who knows! We'll see.

Thanks,
Heidi

You mean it's an Exchange account you are accessing through POP??? Why
not access it through Exchange if it is the case??

What about going to the webmailpage and deleting it from ther ??

It's two parallel processes. Having one blocked on the server doesn't
prevent you from using the other one.
