I am having difficulty sending email in entourage. I am receiving
mail with no problem. My POP and SMTP settings are correct. I was
asked by a techie, at my server company, if there is a firewall
blocking messages from leaving my computer....I dont know if there is.

Would someone kindly tell me what is blocking me from sending
messages. Oh, I am also on a wireless network( if that matters.)

Thank you,

Beth

Send & Receive problems can be complex to solve, but generally these
solutions apply:

If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration.
If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration.

Check to be sure you typed SMTP correctly. Under Advanced settings for SMTP:

ˆ SMTP server requires authentication
Select € Use same settings as receiving mail server

Thanks Diane. I tried your suggestion and this is what I received:

"The SMTP server for "Kristen Kraemer" does not recognize any of the
authentication methods supported by Entourage. To send mail, try
disabling SMTP authentication in the account settings or talk to your
administrator."

Any other suggestions?

Is the Mac currently trying to send while it's in the same domain as the
SMTP server? For example, if this were a comcast.net account I could
send mail out while I'm at home on my comcast.net network. But if I'm at
a hotel then I won't be able to relay through my comast.net SMTP server
because they don't allow relaying from outside their network.
