Entourage is my slowest app. Lots of spinning cursors?

Any suggestions? I've run all the updates, but still slow...

Thanks,
- Chris

Hi Chris!

First, keep in mind that Entourage is not yet native to the Intel
platform. Office 2004 will have some speed issues. But I suspect most of
your issues are network related, especially while Entourage is busy
synchronizing with your Exchange server.

Do you know if your email server is close to you in your own network
(within the same building or campus) or is it farther away (in a
different city)? The speed of your network link is a major factor in how
quickly Entourage can sync and keep in sync. Unfortunately this is out
of your control.

Are you using the OWA address for your Exchange server name or are you
using an internal server name? The OWA address would be the same you'd
use to access Exchange through a web browser. This can be slower than
using the server's more direct connection because you may be making more
server and router hops to get to your mail.

Finally, try putting Entourage into "Headers only" mode. This causes
Entourage to download only the subject/sender/date information but not
the message body until you decide to read or preview the message. To do
this go to Tools --> Accounts and edit your Exchange account. Under the
Options tab set the "Downloading mail" options to "Partially receive
messages over 9999 KB always". Close your account settings and you'll
now notice your Exchange account will be listed with "Headers only" next
to its name in your folder list.

Hope this helps! bill

Hello --I get 25 messages everyday from the Entourage help group that I

I can UNSUBSCRIBE to a particular group! Help! Thanks a lot.

Your message indicates that you are posting through the Google interface
(although you didn't say...), in which case visit the group page
<http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage> and,
when you are logged in under your username, the 'unsubscribe' link is in the
top orange bar, just to the right of the 'start a new topic' link.

If you are receiving newsgroup messages through Entourage, then follow these
steps:

Select the 'microsoft news server' icon in the folder list, then in the
right hand pane, scroll down to find this list (put 'entourage' in the
quickfilter box to find it more easily).

Select the name of the group (Microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage) and
then click the 'unsubscribe' button in the window toolbar.
