Gosh, I have been struggling for many days now trying to breath life
into Entourage. Recall that I am running OS X on a G4/500. I had to
replace OS X which is 10.2.6. Unfortunately, after reinstalling Office v.X
which worked for months before with no problems, I cannot get it to
work again. I am really worried becasue of all the mail and address that
may be lost.
Your advice on Advanced Rebuilding restulted in a (-40) error as you
may recall. I actually removed Office completely and reinstalled and
then restored the Microsoft Users Data folder a second time. The same
thing happens, after a long time to rebuild the database, I keep getting
an error message to rebuild the database but the computer will not
rebuild it.
Could it be that the database is too large? The Microsoft User Data
folder is 3.7 Gb. Do I need more than 256 Mb of compuer RAM to
successfully enable Entourage to rebuild the database. Can I just move
the "Main Identities Folder" into the MUD folder? Entourage always
works just fine when I restore the MUD with the new and empty one.
When do I give up? If I have to abandon my data, is there something to
do in the future to prevent this from happening again? Like maybe not
allowing the database to get so big?
If there is some trick or procedure that I can use to recover the data, I
would be forever beholding to you? I do have the Microsoft User Folder
and even Entourage in a Retrospect backup set. So, the data is there.
Thanks... PLease help if you can.
