Entourage stop trying to connect to Internet?

So Entourage is driving me crazy - every time I don't have an Internet
connection, I have to go in and say "Work Offline" to stop the Internet
Connect in OS X from trying to dial up.

As I'm working offline, every single time I compose and "send" a
message, Entourage asks if I want to connect to the Internet.

Then when I come back online, I have to manually go in and turn "Work
Offline" off.

This is super annoying - is there a way to just make Entourage more
aware of my network status and not bug me all the time??

Go to the tools menu, and choose 'schedules'.
Find the 'send & receive all' schedule, and double-click it to edit the
settings.
Just under the first section that sets a recurring/repeating schedule, there
is a little checkbox for 'only if connected' - check that box!

That is already the case. I unchecked it, quit, restarted, and
re-checked it and no improvement.

now when I hit send while not connected to the Internet I just get this
annoying message:

"Your Mac OS Network Preferences are not configured to allow automatic
connections. You can manually dial up first, or you can change this
setting:
in your modem Preferences, click PPP Options, and then select the
"Connect
automatically" check box."

How can I just stop this thing from trying to dial-up? I haven't used
dial-up in 5 years. I have NEVER even used the modem on this PowerBook.
