Entourage sync with .mac

Hi there

I have an imac and a macbok. I run office 04 and am looking to
establish whether or not i can sync both my macbook and my imac with
email, calendar, contacts etc (entourage) though .mac. I am also open
to suggestions from anyone as to an alternative which will keep both
accounts fully up to date.

Because Entourage stores the info in a database you cannot sync one database
with another without rewriting the entire database. What you choose to do,
depends on how often you feel the need to update. The easiest solution is to
use an IMAP account. Simply put, a POP account downloads all new mail from
the server to the user's computer. In an IMAP account, everything is kept on
the server. This is especially useful if you use several computers and/or
travel.

Another option is to use an external drive for Microsoft User Data folder
with alias in Documents folder.

Entourage 2004 syncs with Apple's Address Book and Calendar so those items
can by synced through .mac.

Thanks for that. I have an IMAP account already set up on my imac. So
are you saying, if set up that same IMAP account in Entourage on my
macbook then i will be able to look at emails on both and not lose
emails due to them been downloaded onto one specific machine? If I
delete on one will that show on the other machine also? Do all mail
accounts have the option to be IMAP as opposed to POP?

Yes.

No - the ISP serving the mail account for you must support IMAP for
that account.
