Folks:
I can't seem to get the two to work; any workarounds suggested? Thanks.

Are you joking?

You imply you have an illegal copy of a beta application (if you had it
legally why wouldn't you just ask the beta administration?) and you want
someone here to tell you what to do with it? If anyone knew, they couldn't
tell you because they're under NDA.

It stands to reason that a new version of Entourage will have a new conduit,
don't you think? Poor you - you didn't manage to pilfer that too.

How about: wait until Office 2004 is officially released, upgrade to it, and
then use the conduit that comes with it? That's my suggestion. Until then, I
suggest you keep a low profile...

Gee, Paul:
Silly me...I'm dealing with a review copy for a major online site, and was
seeking some help. It's a legitimate version of the software, and I don't
appreciate your condescending tone.

So, if you'd like to help, please let me know. Otherwise, please keep your
comments to yourself.

As I said, if you have a legitimate copy, just ask the people who supplied
it to you for help. They can. Why are you asking here?

You don't write to a public newsgroup and expect people to keep their
comments to themselves. You come here and ask for help with an unreleased
beta version. Only people who also have the beta, under NDA, will have
access to a beta conduit. If they have any respect for the NDA they signed,
they can't help you. If they did, they wouldn't be asked back to the beta
program: it's totally forbidden to break the NDA. Perhaps you don't have to
be concerned about such things. OK.

While Apple is pretty strict with NDA's and unreleased software, I am
not sure that Microsoft is the same.

I have reason to believe that copies of the Office 2004 beta were given
to some members of the press without the need for the signing of an NDA.
These people aren't developers and wouldn't necessarily have access to
developer resources and support.

So, it's entirely possible that his source for the software was
legitimate, and that being the case, he might have thought others who
got it in a similar fashion might be here and able to help.

I am not saying that this is the case, but it's not out of the realm of
possibility. It's not like he asked for help with Mac OS X 10.4. :)

I am sure. Microsoft does not distribute pre-release software without a
signed NDA.

And Dave would know...

I was mistaken. The person I was thinking of actually did sign an NDA.
Never mind... :)

Who is the person you were thinking of?

Just someone who mentioned that he had been using a pre-release version
of Office, but once MS made it's announcement the secrecy of it's
existence became moot.

No, I meant who specifically? What is their name?[/QUOTE]

I know what you meant. If I wanted to name this person, I would have.

No worries, I've already figured it out.
