Entourage Sync

Since SP1 install most of my sync problems with iCAL and Address Book
have been fixed. But, I now loose any categories and Project settings
in my Entourage entries. Has anyone else found this and know of a
fix. I know they will not carry over to iCal, but it would be nice if
they are not lost from Entourage. Jim

Excuse my ignorance, what is SP1 and how do I get it.

Thx

SP1 is service pack 1 to Office 2008. You can get it by selecting Downloads
and Updates from the Help menu in any Office application.

If you want to know more about SP1 see these blog articles. There are tips
there that might save you some time and headache if you read them first.
Especially note that Entourage will upgrade your Identity and then it cannot
be opened by a previous Entourage 2008 12.0.0 or 12.0.1 install. Make a
backup just in case you need to go back.

Seems my original issue got hijacked by SP1. Any thoughts about why
appointment properties get lost? Jim

Categories (and contact pictures...) don't sync through SyncServices.
You won't get them in iCal or the Address book.
You shouldn't lose them in Entourage though.

Thanks, I know that these Entourage attributes will not sync with
iCAl, but I AM loosing them in Entourage. It looks like every time I
open Entourage, it replaces all the calendar items with iCAL
appointments. I say this because the entire Entourage calender is
cleared and then appointments start reappearing without any of the
Entourage specific attributes, like "categories" and "project"
associations.

I see... That's not good.

I'm not seeing that on my Mac. I suspect that the Sync Services are
hosed up on your Mac. You can start by trying to disable them, clear out
one of the two (Entourage or iCal, depending on which source best suits
your needs at this point) and re-enable syncing, using one of the two to
overwrite the other.

I hope it'll clear out the mess :-\

Otherwise, in Leopard, with the Developper tools comes a quite useful
utility that can assist you firther, but if this work, I'd rather stay
away from it.

Thank you for the suggestion. I synced the contents on another
computer through .MAC. Unregistered both computers and cleared out
the backup on my .MAC account. Stopped syncing between Entourage and
iCAL. Then restored my .MAC registrations and restored my calendar
data to iCAL and then Entourage. The problem now seems to be fixed.
Something probably got corrupted and I appreciate this suggestion. It
launched me down the right path. Jim
