Entourage trime zone issue

Massey Mark

Hello,

I am using OS 10.3.9 and have Entourage 2004 (11.1.0). Both have the
correct Time Zone selected (Auckland, Wellington for NZST) however I am
experiencing a one-hour discrepancy similar to other users I have read
about in this group. I have adjusted time-zone settings etc. but the
problem remains. There appears to be no way of adjusting things for
daylight savings.

I am synchronizing with a Pocket PC using PocketMac. The calendar times
between the Mac and Pocket PC line up perfectly when using iCal but the
one hour difference always occurs when I use Entourage.

Hope someone can help - I would like to make Entourage my default
application.

Thanks,

Mark.

Well, no bites for my post. Is this a common problem? If so, does
anyone know if any action is being taken? If not... any advice? Is the
problem likely to do with DST?

Any (intelligent!) answers appreciated!

Mark.

Are you on Exchange? There's a known issue whereby Entourage Exchange
users have their time zone for events set to the time zone of the
server (which may be elsewhere than where the user is), whereas Outlook
Exchange users in the same location seem to get the correct time zone
for events.

Thanks Allen, your response most appreciated. I will look into the
Exchange issue; I am on Exchange for email but thought that the
Calendar might be separate. I will follow up with our Exchange
administrator.

One more question. Does "known issue" mean 'fix or patch on the way'?

Thanks again,

Mark.

Hello Allen,

You ask:

The Exchange server DOES have the correct time zone set, and it has
been corrected for DST. My question again seems pertinent: "Does 'known
issue' mean 'fix or patch on the way'?"

And, any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark.

Hello Allen,

You ask:

The Exchange server DOES have the correct time zone set, and it has
been corrected for DST.

Correct time zone where? You still haven't said. The question was whether
your Exchange server is located in your own time zone or elsewhere. (Note
that Outlook on Windows does not appear to have this problem when the
Exchange server is elsewhere, only Entourage does.)
My question again seems pertinent: "Does 'known
issue' mean 'fix or patch on the way'?"

That's only pertinent if the Exchange server is located elsewhere than your
time zone. There's been no specific announcement of a patch for this
particular issue - there virtually never is. On the other hand a new
"Exchange Update" has been announced for later this year, but it's not known
is this issue is addressed. Anyone that might know couldn't say so, as it
would be under NDA.

If your Exchange server is located in your own time zone, like your own
building, then whatever might be causing this problem is unknown, so there's
no way it would be fixed soon if the problem isn't yours personally. On the
other hand, no one else has reported this problem (when Exchange is local to
you) so it's unlikely to be an Entourage error The three possibilities are:

1) Exchange server has really NOT been correctly plugged into Daylight
Savings or correct Time Zone.

2) You have not set the Time Zones correctly in Entourage or on your
computer (you say you have).

3) There's a system procedure that's faulty for getting the correct
"Auckland, Wellington" time zone.

To try to track this down, you should try to find

1) Other Entourage users on your Exchange server.

3) Other Mac users using non-Exchange and non-Entourage email clients.

and compare notes.
