Entourage unexpectedly quits immediately after launch

Jim

Everytime I launch Entourage from my hard drive, it unexpectedly quits. It used to work fine. I now have to start the program from my original Microsoft CD

I have trashed the Entourage Preferences file, but that does not seem to work

Any ideas

Thanks!!

I had a problem like this once. It turned out it was a problem with one
particular email that was sitting on my ISP's mail server. Once I deleted it
through webmail, Entourage never crashed again.

Now the fact that you can run it from the CD means it probably isn't the
same kind of problem I was having. Have you tried removing EVERYTHING
Entourage related and a fresh install? Not just the prefs, but the entire
app, mail database etc...?

That¹s what I would try...see if that resolves your trouble.

Cheers,

I am having the same problem with Entourage on my Mac OS 10.3. I have
uninstalled everything Entourage and reinstalled, but this hasn't fixed the
problem.

Any other thoughts? I suppose I could uninstall everything in Mac Office.
Thoughts on this?

Do you have any schedules set to fire when Entourage is launched?

When you start Entourage from the CD does it recognize your identity?

Have you tried a rebuild of your database?

How to rebuild your database:

Under Entourage in the Menu bar, select "Turn Off Office Notifications".
Quit Entourage, and then restart Entourage holding down the Option key. When
the Rebuild dialog box comes up, choose to do a Typical Rebuild first. If
your problem continues, then do the advanced rebuild.

If this does not work, I would try "Remove Office". One way to revert to all
default preferences is to use "Remove Office". You will need to reinstall
from the CD and update.

"Remove Office" is located in the Value Pack folder on the Office X CD.
You'll need your CD key when you install.

You need three updaters: Office 10.1.2 Office 10.1.4 Office 10.1.5

It could be the way you uninstalled. Did you use "Remove Office"? See other
message in this thread for details on "Remove Office".

Also, try turning off the Junk Mail Filter. You might need to launch with
your network cable detached to prevent Entourage from trying to download the
offending mail before you can turn off the setting.
