Entourage using MAPI

I have a Mac running 10.2.8 OS using Outlook 2001 to connect to Exchange 2000 server running Native Mapi. IMAP has been turnoff by the network folks. Will Entourage ever be able to connect to a Exchange 2000 server running Mapi or do I have stick with Outlook 2001 running in classic mode? Does anyone know if microsoft is creating another product to for Macs to connect to exchange servers that is OS X compatibile?

MAPI is not supported. I doubt that it ever will be.

Your only options at this time are IMAP (why have they turned this off?) and
Outlook Web Access.

I would not expect there to be another 'outlook for mac', but rather would
expect to see more functionality built into future releases of entourage as
time goes by. MS have declared that Entourage is/will be their Exchange
Client for Macs.

Thanks barry for your reply. I am told by our network folks is that imap is resource problem and will never be turn on. I just hope Microsoft will get Mapi as an option in Entourage soon
