Entourage vs. Share Point

S

Saluki

I have a small law office with a half-dozen people in it. We have
decided that we need a real server and true collaborative calendaring.
One network specialist said we could use Share Point, which he said
is a stand-alone (free) part of Windows Network 2003. He showed me a
demonstration of how the calendar, document sharing, and discussions
work.

However, Entourage looked quite a bit easier to use and more capable,
too. It would cost $700 for Exchange Server, though, on top of the
Network, plus whoever didn't have Entourage would have to get it,
too.

Any thoughts or advice?

Entourage is a product specially designed for all the purposes or
objectives, you are looking to achieve here and in my personal view it
provides more seamless collaboration experience than SharePoint Server.
SharePoint Server is a good solution for content maintenance and data
sharing with built-in defined/set collaboration levels which are not much
customizable. On the other hand using Exchange/Entourage combination you
will get more in-depth and rich user-level experience in terms of
collaboration with least possible efforts.
