ENTOURAGE WILL NOTSEND OR RETRIEVE MAIL.

In late August I Downloaded OfficeX-1029UpdateEN.dmg and at the same time,
but unbeknown to me my ISP, Xtra.co.nz, switched over to Yahoo Mail as the
new ISP which created total confusion throughout NZ and resulted in all
sorts of problems. Xtra issued instructions to Entourage users who wished
to retain their old Email address, in my case <[email protected]>, which
allowed the automatic transfer of mail from Yahoo back to Xtra. I have
tried to reconnect to Xtra but always end up with two Dropdown windows, one
telling me "Message in Outbox could not be sent. The account which created
the message could not be found, Error Type (-17199)" and the other "Could
not retrieve mail from Xtra. Security failure. Personal Certificate
required, Error Type (2995)". Can you advise my as to how this problem can
be be overcome as the Yahoo Mail is, in my opinion, a disaster.

Bill Champion.

This is the first I've heard of an ISP turning it's mail over to Yahoo. I
assume this makes you a paying customer that's allowed to download into
Entourage. You can look over the Yahoo account page for help, but since your
situation is a bit different, I'm not sure it will be exactly what you need.

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

The description for the error -17199 doesn't exactly match but it does
indicate problems with SMTP.

Note: The problem could lie with Entourage X. Many security server updates
in the past few months broke in Entourage X. Office X is end of life
software and won't be updated. You could try downloading the demo for Office
200 and install in a new User folder rather than the root application folder
for easy removal and test there. If it works, you can buy the Student
Teacher edition for around $150 and get a free upgrade to Office 2008 Home
and Student Edition for $10 when it's released.
