Entourage won't attempt 2 connect after 11.3.9 upgrade

Hello,
I'm using Entourage 11.3.6 (070618) in my corporate network.
Everything was working fine through yesterday. this morning MSFT
Autoupdate prompted me to upgrade, so I did. Now Entourage will not
attempt to connect to the server. The Progress Window says "Send &
Receive All" will run in 1 minute, then less that one minute, then it
goes back to 1 minute and never attempts to connect. I tried to
Manually select it under Tools menu, still no difference. The only
thing that is different from yesterday to today is that I performed
the MSFT upgrade to 11.3.9, which doesn't seem to have anything in it
related to Entourage. I checked with my IT department and they say
there is nothing new they have done.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

If you're only connecting to an Exchange Sever then the Send & Receive
All schedule is not used. You can disable it.

Does anything indicate to you that it's not syncing? Are you not
receiving messages? Unable to send messages? Do you see "(Not
Connected)" at the end of your account name in the folder list? What
happens if you right-click the account name in the folder list and
attempt to synchronize?

I am having the same problem. A bit more info:

- I am able to send messages
- I do not receive any new messages
- it does not say "not connected" I can switch between working offline
and online to try and force a synch and get nothing;
- selecting synchronize now also does not work
- I have tried deleting prefs, using a backup DB, and swithing
identities, and creating a brand new exchange account (same settings;
under a new identity) and nothing has worked
- I am on a Macbook with Tiger

Any suggestions appreciated...

Thanks ~

A few more pieces of info:

- IMAP mail accounts work fine, only exchange is borked
- the main mail window has a new strange header - it says "Mail ? Main
Identity"
- I am using Leopard, not Tiger, confused my cats...

Thanks again for any ideas!

Disable any schedules you have for other accounts so that they don't get
in the way of troubleshooting.

First, open the Progress window from the Window menu. Now, when you
click through folders in your Exchange account do you see any
synchronization activity with your Exchange account in the Progress
window? You should at least see little blips of activity.

If you're able to send but not receive then your account settings are
correct. I'm going to guess that you've set up your Exchange account to
connect to a front-end Outlook Web Access (OWA) server instead of your
back-end Exchange Server where your mail is hosted. Review these
instructions <http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeatwork.html>
and compare your setup. Are they similar?

The plot thickens.

Called MS and they advised that there is an issue with Leopard and the
latest Entourage update that can cause these conditions when using
self signed certificate (which we are). They could not tell me how to
fix it, but alluded to the fact that their Exchange group might have a
fix (but I would have had to pay for that support).

Anyone have any ideas?

Ah, self-signed certificates. I'm not sure if that's necessarily the
problem but have a look at this blog post of mine from a couple weeks
ago. Be sure to read my FOLLOWUP comment.

Hope this helps!
