Kenda Skaggs

Hi,

I have several emails in my inbox that will not delete. I have a Mac and am
using .mac, an IMAP.

Thank you.

This could be a sign of database corruption.

How to rebuild:

Quit any applications that are running, including virus-protection
applications, all Office applications, Microsoft Messenger for Mac, and
Office Notifications/Reminders, because they might interfere with
rebuilding.

I gave the fix. Rebuild your database. Do you guys not read the entire
threads?

Diane,

I see that sometimes when I get messages from the news server using
Entourage, not all the messages show up. That is, when I check again later,
I see messages that were sent before I last checked (sometimes many hours
before), but that didn't appear at that time.

Therefore, I suspect that this newsgroup is hosted on a group of servers and
that replication from one server to the others is not especially timely.

Can I send feedback to MS asking for more timely replication across
newsgroup servers? :)

No, that's really not something they control. Newsgroups are based on a
distributed architecture. Each server passes messages onto others it peers
with. Depending on where you are in the chain, messages will take more or
less time to get to you.

Many people use the Microsoft news server (msnews.microsoft.com) to post
here, but posts are also distributed out onto the Internet and to other
providers' servers.

I guess I owe him an apology. I see so many threads where the answer was
posted days or weeks ago with a solution, but another user adds on to the
thread looking for an answer. That get tiresome.

Frankly, I hate the Mactopia interface. I don't see how anyone finds an
answer there. Using a newsreader is so much better IMHO.

Can you please be more specific? What happens when you try to delete items?

Nothing happens to the email I'm trying to delete and my curser drops down
to the next email in my inbox. Currently I have five that will not delete.

Did you try the rebuild? Do you have other accounts other than the IMAP
account? If no, then just Create a new Identity in Entourage and enter your
IMAP account and let it resync.

Because this is an IMAP account, you may have some corruption in your
local cache of data.

If you see this in just one or a handful of folders then right-click or
Control-click that folder, select Folder Properties and click the Empty
button to empty the cache. You can also select the account itself and
empty the cache for all of your folders.

Hope this helps!

The IMAP is the only account I am using and rebuilding didn't work. I'll
try another identity.

I did this and it deleted my entire inbox. No problem because it is backed
up on mac.com. Thank you for your help!
