Entourage wont empty hotmail "delted items" folder

Entourage is holding on to some deleted messages from my hotmail
account and i dont know why or how to stop it. When i check hotmail
using a web browser, the deleted items folder only contains mail less
than 24hours old (like it should). Whereas the entourage deleted items
folder is holding onto some messages that are over 1 year old. When i
try to delete them manually, it says "You cannot manually delete
messages from the Hotmail Deleted Items folder. Hotmail will empty the
folder automatically."

What's going on? Why is entourage holding onto random deleted messages
that hotmail has already deleted from the server?

i am using, OS 10.3.9 on a powerbook G4 1.5

As a matter of fact, a similar thing happened to me just yesterday. What you
see is not an actual message on the Hotmail server, but rather an item that
got stuck in Entourage's cache. Right-click/ctrl-click the Hotmail icon in
the folder pane and select "Empty Cache" from the contextual menu. This will
force Entourage to re-download all the messages from the server and should
delete any cached messages.

Thanks for the solution. sounds like it will solve my problem, but it
will also remove all the other useful message links that i have and
i'll have to download 300mbs of emails again. So i think i'll just
leave the deleted messages there. Guess it doesnt do any harm.
